  When Ministry Matters Most
       June 4, 2008

Fame happened the right way to Casting Crowns: without seeking it. In fact group leader Mark Hall had the concern whether recording professionally would adversely affect their youth ministry focus. The group considers themselves primarily an outreach of their church (Eagle's Landing First Baptist in McDounough, Georgia). With priorities in line, whatever happens in the ratings "game" doesn't concern them. What matters is that kids learn to have a close relationship with Jesus themselves, in addition to what they may gain from being around others who already have one.

One of the leading websites with new music continuously being arranged for worship band and orchestra, PraiseCharts has now added high quality chord charts to their offerings. WorshipToonz Quick Picks and CCLI Top 25 always link to chord charts that are already available on the net. Other than music from Zion Christian Church, we do not post our own versions. As such, some of them may not be as correct as we'd like. If you're willing to pay to get accurate charts in all keys, this is where you should go. Any errors that appear in charts are corrected in later postings, and always with version numbers so you can download the latest correct version.

If you have additional instruments involved in your worship band, check out PraiseCharts' catalog of available songs.

     True Worshipers of God Series

This is another installment of Pastor Dan Gardner's series, True Worshipers of God. For this complete series on audio, go to WorshipToonz on this page. You can also find much of Dan's music, recorded and published, on this page. Each song has its own audio and leadsheet demos.

Session 8: Changed Into His Image
        Dan Gardner

II Corinthians 3:18 and 4:1,2
“But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not, but have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.”

The essence of being a “Christian” is that of being “Christ-like”. We must be changed into the image of the Lord if we are going to reflect the glory of the Lord. How are we changed? As we behold Him, in worship, prayer, the Word. As we worship Him and behold Him (focused on Him, not distracted but shut away with Him, close to Him), we stand in AWE of His majesty and beauty; the light of His glory then fills us and changes us!!

We take on the attributes of His character, nature, and virtue. As we behold the Lord we see His:

  1. Righteousness - His righteousness helps me lead a more righteous life.
  2. Love - Accept His love for me and extended to others.
  3. Grace and Mercy - Compassion to others.
  4. Peace - I rest and trust in Him.
  5. Joy - His countenance.
  6. Beauty - The wonder of His presence.

This change is accomplished from “glory to glory,” which means that it is a beholding process, allowing the Lord to change us as we worship Him each day. The more we behold Him and yield to Him, the more we become like Him. The more we become like Him, the more we desire to be like Him! Each step of our daily walk draws us nearer to the fullness God intends to be in us.

The fullness of God is found in our Savior, Jesus Christ; in His manifest presence, under the anointing of the Holy Spirit, we behold His glory. Look to Jesus, our example:

Colossians 2:9,10
"..For in Him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily… And ye are complete in Him, which is the head of all principality and power..."

What is the image we are being changed, transformed to ?
JESUS; He is:

Colossians 1:15,17
"...The image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
"...For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers:
"...all things were created by Him, and for Him: and He is before all things and by Him all things consist. We are made alive in Him to become like him. When we put Jesus at the center of our lives, we will begin to come into the completeness, the fullness that is in Him!"

II Corinthians 4:3,4
“But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the IMAGE of God, should shine unto them.”
