An event thousands of Christian teens attend around the country, for its music, its message, its passion...

Ron Luce's Acquire the Fire events have been increasingly provoking Christian youth to stand their moral high ground and focus on Christ with fierce determination. Ron communicates to kids the message of commitment powerfully and effectively. The Christian bands are top-notch, Hillsong United and P.O.D. among them this year. The drama was fast-paced, engrossing, and, especially considering its length, still kept all 32,000 glued every moment. God's presence in worship brought many of us to tears.

If one comes to or near your city, don't pass it up, and bring some teens with you!

A ministry of worship and praise, a ministry to youth. Hillsong United has as many faces of worship as its members; four of them alternate leading worship, and each has his own gifting.

Guitarist Joel Houston led worship segments with an unmistakably powerful presence of God permeating BattleCry Detroit every time he took the microphone.

A number of Hillsong United songs are available for free download on their MySpace page.

Session 5: Expressions of
Thanksgiving, Praise, and Worship
            Dan Gardner

In our discovery of David's Tabernacle, we studied the sights and sounds of Zion. The sounds of Zion are the sounds of God’s people fellowshipping, praising, worshiping, and communing with their Lord; Psalm 89:15 & 16 says, “Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O Lord, in the light of thy countenance. In thy name shall they rejoice all the day: and in thy righteousness shall they be exalted.” The sound of music, singing, and joyful praise could regularly be heard in David’s Tabernacle.

The sights of Zion are beautiful expressions of praise and worship, people displaying their love and devotion to God through the actions and motions that were ordained by God, and revealed through the heart of David.

Many of the expressions of praise and worship were birthed in David’s time However, some of these truths are declared throughout other portions of Scripture. Throughout this study, we will look at words and phrases in Scripture that reveal attitudes and actions that, under the leading and direction of the Holy Spirit, will increase the dynamics of our praise and worship.

As you will recall from Session I, we discussed the fact that worship was designed to be more than a heart attitude , but a heart attitude expressed. As we exalt, magnify, love, and worship the Lord from our heart and through our mind, that ministry should then be expressed in our body . As we express our praise and worship with purity of heart and openly and unashamedly sing, clap, lift our hands, etc., we minister to God—there is a purpose to our action. As we fulfill our primary responsibility as priests in ministry to the Lord, according to the expressions He has ordained, we will find great satisfaction in the Lord’s presence through our times of praise and worship.

“Stand up and bless the Lord your God for ever and ever: and blessed be Thy glorious name, which is exalted above all blessing and praise” Nehemiah 9:5
“Behold, bless ye the Lord, all ye servants of the Lord, which by night stand in the house of the Lord” Psalm 134:1

“O bless our God, ye people, and make the voice of his praise to be heard”
Psalm 66:8

“Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise” Psalm 98:4

“O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph” Psalm 47:1 Our hands are a ten-stringed instrument of praise!
Purposes: applauding the excellence of the Lord, confirming covenant (vow) as in Hebrew tradition, setting the tone for God’s Spirit to come against darkness.

“Praise Him with the dance” Psalm 150:4
The Hebrew and Greek words from which our word “dance” is derived are defined as “to keep festival,” “to turn,” “to twist,” “to move around,”“to lift up the feet,” “to skip and leap.”

David rejoiced as the presence of the Lord was established in Zion: “Thou hast turned for me my mourning into DANCING. Thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness; to the end that my tongue may sing praise to Thee, and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks unto thee forever” Psalm 30:11,12. This is the reason for dancing before the Lord: to express praise to Him! It is not to exalt self, but to minister to the Lord. When a tone of the Spirit reaches a point of high rejoicing in a service or in your personal worship, and your heart is full of joyful praise that you can’t seem to express any other way, DANCE!
