    The Sarnia Revival Vol. I No. 8
Sept. 18, 2006
   Word is getting out... slowly. Many of the churches in Sarnia have been experiencing revival. Sarnia is in Ontario, Canada, across the St. Clair River from Port Huron, Michigan. The revival began at Bethel Pentecostal Church on March 29th of this year, and word has been spreading throughout the city. Still going strong after five months at Bethel, a typical week includes five services besides the two on Sunday.

A popular and long-running Christian TV show in Canada, 100 Huntley St., ran a report on the revival, and featured a teen named Kyle Lubbers, who was transformed through an encounter with a young Sarnia pastor, and ultimately, by God's touch at the revival. The Sept. issue of Charisma also has a feature.

This revival didn't just appear out of nowhere. It's the fruit of four consecutive years of Lenten season prayer for revival at the church. They paid the price; they received the prize... as anyone might by visiting.

We know it's out there... it's just not on our radar. The words "Christian" and "metal" for most of us are in the category of contradiction. But for Pastor Brad's GuitarJams.net, they're an important way to reach out to countless teens, and many adults who went through the period. Some have just grown up during the 80s when metal became more popular. For others, it's a symbol of their disaffection and alienation.

Either way, it's a needed ministry, and Pastor Brad (who pastors in Granger, Indiana) not only believes in it passionately, but has his own CDs in the style.

We're relaying this info to you so you can recommend it to those who would be edified by the music. If you didn't grow up with it, it may mean something far different to YOU. If you did, you’re either comfortable with it, identify with it, or for you it may symbolize rebellion, not submission. Know thyself... and act accordingly!

    A. New Testament Priests

There is great significance to the establishment and operation of the priesthood in the Old Testament. It clearly displays God’s desire for a people who would be separated to Himself…to minister to Him.

As we look at the Old Testament through the New Testament we see that…

“The New is in the Old contained;
the Old is in the New explained.”

Paul helps to clarify our study of the Old Testament in
1 Corinthians 10:11 (Amplified):
“Now these things befell them by way of a figure - as an example and warning (to us); they were written to admonish and fit us for right action by good instruction, we in whose days the ages have reached their climax - their consummation and concluding period.”

In Revelation 1:5,6 we read:

“…unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, and hath made a kingdom of priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.”

We are a New Testament Priesthood of Believers! We must understand that just as the high priest is a type of JESUS, so the Old Testament priesthood gives us further amplification on the plan of God to have a priesthood of every believer;
we are not AARONIC PRIESTS or LEVITES, but we are blood-washed
NEW TESTAMENT priests, fulfilling God’s plan from the beginning.

A priest is one who is authorized to minister in sacred things.
This implies that he offer sacrifice, intercession (as a mediator), and worship.
A priest is neither elected or self-appointed, but divinely selected.
